Very handy and powerful. All differential diagnoses are in a very small form factor. Contains a list of over 800 symptoms, abnormal findings and physical signs. Even all relevant laboratory tests and their differential diagnoses are included. For students, residents, nurses and all other healthcare professionals. I use this book several times a day and really can recommend it.

As a doctor I would say the book is excellent. Even though this is not a teaching book, it gives you a complete overview of all relevant DD. The book does not help you to differ, which DD are the most relevant and which are not. But if there is a question, look inside, think and you will not miss any important DD. So this is good for students as well. That much information in such a small book: 5 stars!"

This is really an amazing book. The differential diagnoses are very easy to interpret, and there is a wealth of information about all the common diseases seen in a hospital setting. As already mentioned, all relevant labs and their DDx are included as well. As an Internal Medicine resident, I would give it 2 thumbs up. An essential pocket book to carry around. Smaller, faster and smarter.

Very Helpful in some challenging dilemmas. Fun for medical trivia too!

I had forgotten how helpful this little pocketbook could be. Had one during training and it passed into oblivion.

Now purchased another. Have picked it up countless times in the last month just for the pleasure of seeing how many of these lists I now recall (or don't) and can improve. But more seriously, on late nights its been a great sleep-saver. You know...the kind of night after too many puzzles in a row and now another resistant problem, a frustrating anemia, a fever of unknown origin, potentially rare hyperkalemia or hypokalemia problem, a less than usual acid-base disturbance etc. I don't want to overlook something, but I also just can't do another cup of coffee just in order to support more searches through UptoDate or MdConsult. This has been a rapid access and very useful resource. Worth every penny. I plan to keep a few lying around.

It does not rank the differentials by frequency of occurrence etc. It does not have a feature for combining 2 or more symptoms. It does not attempt to offer treatment options. But then that's not usually what I am needing at the moment anyway -- just a great straight forward list for brainstorming and to help make sure I've considered most of the remaining options.

At times its actually fun to peruse. Rather than brushing past a patient who asks: what is making me flush, have my hair fall out?, have changes starting in my fingernails?, turning my tongue red, black, swollen or painful? -- here's a user-friendly place to sifting through the deep mysteries of life.
