This medical calculator contains a collection of clinical formulas and scores that we believe will be useful in the day to day practice of medicine particularly in acute care hospital settings. Included are formulas and scores used in a variety of medical areas including neurology, cardiology, nephrology, obstetrics and gynecology, and statistical analysis and clinical decision support. Most of the formulas are commonly encountered in general internal medicine practice, while a few are somewhat esoteric and will likely be more useful to specialist practitioners. In addition to serving as a practical tool in day to day practice, we want our calculator to serve as a learning tool for those less familiar with the theory behind the formulas. Consequently, we included an extensive information section on each formula, complete with general background, normal values, inerpretation of the results, and medical management when appropriate. A reference section was added for some topics where considered appropriate or useful. The goal is to enable all users to truly understand the science behind the formulas and the significance of their results. Those new to clinical practice such as medical students, interns, and residents will find this feature a particularly useful one. This calculator is a work in progress, and we expect to continue upgrading this first edition with additional formulas. Any suggestions for useful new formulas or scores will be appreciated and carefully considered for inclusion into future versions. Additionally, corrections or suggestions for improvement or clarification of existing formulas are always welcome. We hope you find our calculator useful and look forward to your feedback.
