Description: In its second edition, this clinical reference guide continues to be an outstanding reference for healthcare professionals and students alike. This guide contains a concise overview of the pulmonary system as well as definitive diagnosis and treatment algorithms for pulmonary disorders.
Purpose: This guide offers quick access to definitive diagnosis and treatment information for all types of respiratory diseases and is intended for physicians, pulmonologists, respiratory care physicians, medical students, and all other healthcare professionals. As this reference continues to be a valuable resource, the author's objectives in this revised edition have been met.
Audience: It is intended for physicians, pulmonologists, respiratory care physicians, medical students, and all other healthcare professionals, but would also be an excellent resource for respiratory therapy students as well.
Features: Four sections cover anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system, assessment and monitoring, respiratory diseases, and therapeutics. The format is user friendly and the author includes numerous algorithms, diagrams, tables, and illustrations. Three appendixes (abbreviations/symbols, equations, and conversions) followed by an informative index end the book. The pages also include darkened tabs for easy access. Readers will find the size perfect for the typical lab coat pocket.
Assessment: The author states "a book of this size will not be comprehensive, but even massive encyclopedia textbooks cannot cover every aspect of pulmonary medicine and respiratory care." Although this is true, this book is complete and is a must-have reference for physicians, medical students, and respiratory therapists in the clinical setting.

Customer Reviews:
I was wondering if there are any plans to offer your Respiratory pocket book for PDA's. As a
Respiratory Care student, this book has been a valuable reference tool for me and several others
in my class. We currently carry the book along with PDA's in our lab coats during our clinical
rotations. Offering the book in PDA format would enable us to have access to the information we
need while carrying one less item in our pockets. Thanks for publishing such a great product,
and thanks for your consideration regarding my inquiry.

What a superb pocket book this is! The amount of useful information that this little book
contains (it can fit in your shirt pocket!) is incredible. Some of the information found in this
book include: anatomy and physiology of the resp. system (you dont find that often in these types
of books = excellent), history amd physical exam, blood gases, thoracic imaging, pulmonary function
tests, exercise testing, respiratory diseases-huge section, includes the most widely used and cited
treatment guidelines for many diseases, respiratory drugs, medical gas therapy, ventilator management
(excellent) and pulmonary procedures and more. Excellent design and format I must say. I highly recommend
this book for physicians, interns, respiratory therapists and other clinicians that deal with respiratory
patients. A+++
