Description: This is the fifth edition of a pocket drug reference that contains an impressive
amount of information in relatively limited space. Drugs are grouped by logical categories or organ
systems. Information presented includes active agents, trade names, dosing information, side effects,
and contraindications.
Purpose: The book is designed for rapid reference for drug prescription. It aims to include a
lot of information that is desirable for daily practice.
Audience: It is targeted at physicians in practice.
Features: The book is ambitious in covering a great amount of information on each drug. In
doing so in limited space, it can seem too busy. A welcome addition is the notation regarding dose
adjustment in renal failure.
Assessment: This is an annually updated current compendium of commonly prescribed medications.
It is rich with pertinent data. It is also available as software for PDAs.

Customer Reviews:
This book outshines the Tarascon Pocket book in quite a few ways. It details the mechanism
of action of all the drugs and provides a succinct snapshot of the adverse efects also. It
is also WAY better in terms of readability and layout. I appreciated the index markings on
the page ends for quick navigation and the extensive list of agents discussed. The layout
is columned and logical. Pharmacologic and brand names are nicely separated in rows. All
in all using the book is a pleasure, finding the right drug fast and prescribing competently
is easy. For a pocket book, Drug pocket is reliable and offers a ton!

I initially received my first Drug Pocket from a pharmaceutical representative and have
been hooked ever since. It is a concise and straightforward reference book. I use it daily
in my practice. The entries are easy to understand and dosing is specific. Several
colleagues have also purchased the guide after using mine just once. Would highly
recommend to anyone in need of a compact and concise drug guide.

I previousely ordered a pharmaceutical reference that fit into the breast pocket of my white
coat called 'Drug pocket Clinical Reference Guide' by Borm Bruckmeier Publishing. While
doing my H&P's last semester, I got pimped by a 3rd year house officer asking the
contraindication of some arcane drug I never heard of. I whup'd out my Drug pocket
and in a heartbeat, found the answer. Suffice it to say, it saved my butt! Highly recommended!

This is a much better pocket drug book than the Tarascon pharmacopoeia,
a truly great new drug pocketbook on the market. Once you use this
pocketbook you will never use any other. What I liked about this book
is that under each drug class there is a short explanation of the
drug's mechanism, side effects and contraindications. Information
is very easy to find unlike Tarascon which is hard to navigate and
whose info is too condensed. I'am not bashing the pharmacopoeia, I
used quite a bit until I got hold of this book. The Drug Pocket is
solidly made and has rounded corners which prevent the corners from
falling appart when repeatedly taken in and out of my coat. I would
say the book is mainly for residents and physicians, but other clinicans
such as therapists or nurses will probably also find it useful. STRONGLY
recommended!

Forget about Tarascon's pocket pharmacopoeia. This book is much
better, much easier to read, and much sturdier. The reviever from
Doody claims it does not fit in the coat pocket but I haven't had
that problem. All drugs are described with indication, side effects,
dosage, and include a short overview of each drug class, something
that I found very nice since I often forget the class mechanisms.
You cannot loose with this book!
